Blooming Sunflower Dinner!

As I was going through the Interior Design program at Fox Valley Technical College, everyone seemed to find their niche! Whether it was tiles, colors, kitchen designing, or CAD, there was always something someone was extra good at! It was only a brief moment in one of my Design Accessories class that we did “event planning.” I soon discovered that setting a table is not only interesting, but so much fun! Who knew that something as simple as setting the table could really be fun and part of designing!

Whether it’s just a simple lunch with the girls, or a fancy dinner, the way you set your table says a lot about you and you can easily make a long lasting impression using unique colors and dinnerware! Table linens and napkin rings also add a unique touch!

Here is my “Blooming Sunflower” placement! 🙂

Loving Decor on Valentine’s Day! <3

Hello loves!

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted on here with an updated blog! Life is definitely getting crazy and it’s hard to catch a breath when you’re having so much fun! Anyways, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I’m sure you’re wondering what could you do to around the house to “set the mood!”

Trust me, all those scenes you see in the movies can become a reality very easily! Here are some idea’s to brighten up the household with a more loving mood!

Rose Petals!

Yes, I know, it sounds so cliché because it’s Valentine’s Day and all, but I’m not talking about making a trail to the bedroom or in the bathtub (I mean, I’m not opposing it ;)). Instead of making a trail, let’s try something different! How about rose petals on her office space at home? Or tv stand? Kitchen counters? Just little places throughout the house that she wouldn’t expect, and then she’ll have the smooth mindset every time she views them or is by them!

Try switching it up by doing some different colors other than your typical red! Here’s a chart of different colors!

Can’t forget the candles! If you’re anything like me, you probably have an endless supply of every scent under the moon except the moon itself!

Try something that’s a little sweeter than normal! Or put the candle’s in a different setting!

Try a more delicious scent or flowery scent! Vanilla is classic of course..but I discovered a new scent lately that I am IN LOVE WITH! It’s called Vanilla Rum Cookie! It can be found on a Scentsy consultant’s website!

Here are some other scents that will definitely the area more magical! These scents are also part of the Valentine’s Day Collection at Yankee Candle!

Raspberry Sorbet!

Chocolate Truffle!

Bakery Air! (online exclusive)

Mhhmmm I bet you can smell those sweet smells already! I know I sure can!

Now let’s set the mood with some fun lighting!

String lights are always a great mood setter! String lights to me always remind me of a warm, romantic outdoor scene like a walk through the park or somewhere exotic like the Eifel Tower!

It could be as simple as just stringing them across your living room, bedroom, etc. Here are some other options to which you can create that fantasy scenario with string lights!

Simply add string lights to lantern or liqueur bottles you have around the house!

Or how about attaching your favorite pictures of you and your significant other to the string lights! You can take a stroll down memory lane and fall in love with each other all over again!

Hope everyone’s Valentine’s Day and weekend is as wonderful as all of you are!

Sweet Smell of Thanksgiving!

Now that Halloween is gone, I’m sure everyone is thinking hard about Thanksgiving! All that food and the warmth of your parent’s house or even Grandma’s house! Gah I can just picture it now! What’s really planting a great picture in my head is the sweet smells around me! Yes I’m by a lot of Yankee candles!

I’ve picked out a couple that I feel like every home should try to make your home feel extra warm and delightful for Thanksgiving or even all year round!

Bourbon and Vanilla!
I’m a huge vanilla junkie and this is like the icing on top!

Salted Carmel!
Gosh, what isn’t there to love here!

Pumpkin Spice!

Fall wouldn’t be fall without something pumpkin!

Cinnamon Stick
Ahh yes, that cozy scent as your are sitting by the fire on a cold winter night!

Hope I’m getting some great pictures and ideas into your heads to make winter this year a lot more tolerable!

Seasons greetings!

Dramatic Mirror!

Hey ladies and gentlemen!

Yesterday at my internship at Partners By Design in Fond Du Lac, WI I fell in love with a dramatic mirror! There’s no other way to describe it! This piece is just simple breath taking and I will forever admire it’s one of a kind beauty!

This mirror could be yours for $2,525. Sometimes I do wish money could grow on trees!

Let’s Kick Off Fall!!

It’s here! The first day of fall! If you’re anything like me, you’re going crazy over anything pumpkin related! And you if you’re not, well that’s okay too!

I thought I’d like to share some of my own creations, along with some I have found on Pintetest of beautiful fall decor for all over the house!

This is a painting I did a couple of days ago! Not bad for not painting in 4 years! P.S- sun flowers are my favorite!

I got these huge pumpkins and this beautiful mum from the flower shop I work at! These are perfect for my little porch space!

I know I’ve shared this before but I’m too proud of it to not share multiple times! A Juliette serve bowl, mulled apple poulp and mulled apple candle.. All from Pottery Barn! Oh and the candle burns down the middle so it won’t light anything else on fire!

This mantel is beyond gorgeous with all of its fall decor!
Here’s another cute front porch idea! I’m too afraid to put small pumpkins out because they always get stolen.. This would be great with big pumpkins too!

Here’s to happy decorating for fall!

Fabric Grades

One big part of buying a new piece of furniture is picking out the fabric! When you see a piece of furniture on display in a store, no matter what fabric it is in… there may be other options than what’s shown. The fabric choice matters greatly, especially when it comes to price and to the durability of the fabric. If you have pets and children, you probably would want a stronger fabric that can handle all of the high traffic. More durable fabrics though do cost a little more. But have no fear if you’re on a budget… cheaper fabrics can also be good!

Let me break down some of the fabric grades you may see when out shopping for a new piece of furniture!

You may see the grades listed in alphabetical order such as A through E. You may also see them listed in numbers.
At Pottery Barn for example, the grades are listed A through E. That being said, A is basically the cheapest of the grades verses E being the most expensive. Although the fabric grade is cheaper, that does not mean it’s any less good than a grade E fabric. The reason why it’s basically cheaper because it doesn’t cost much to make. Grade A fabrics are usually 100% cotton. Anything above a grade A is usually a blend of cotton and other fabrics, and possibly 100% polyester. Now, with a higher grade fabric usually comes with a higher cost. Along with that higher cost are fabrics that are stronger and may last longer.

It’s important to research what fabrics can handle your household traffic. If you have kids and pets, investing into a more expensive grade that can handle everything it may encounter would be more worth it than purchasing a piece of furniture that you will have to replace in 5 years.

Here is a nice website I have found to break things down a little more! Enjoy!”>

That’s So French

So, as ive been going through Pinterest the past couple of days, I’ve been noticing a trend I’ve been pinning a lot of.. French inspired furniture! There’s something about a French sofa that has got me drooling over how pretty and elegant they are! I’m crazy about not only the look, but the history behind the French furniture history!

Here are some awesome pins I have found!

Aren’t these just fabulous?!! I totally think these types of furniture pieces are a great way to add elegance to any room! It also gives a feel of time travel!
